Katsuran Castle - Katsuran Castle, which commands a view of the eastern coast from
atop a small hill, was build sometime in the 12th century. It was occupied in the 15th
century by a local warlord named Amawari, who is well known in Okinawan history
for tricking the king into believing that his rival, Gosamaru, was about to attack Shuri.
Excavation at the castle site revealed ceramics from China and Southeast Asia.
